Bilingual, biblically-based, girl empowering…it’s got it all! I’m talking about the bilingual baby book titled Eva. This sweet baby and toddler friendly board book has soft colored illustrations that guide the retelling of how Eve was made in God’s image. This 12-paged book is written in Spanish and English.
Disclaimer: I was gifted this book by the author, but she wasn’t even expecting me to write a review. This is entirely my honest opinion for your benefit as the reader.
Top 5 reasons I love this book:
I love multiple aspects of the book actually.
- I love that Eve is depicted with darker skin tone. I think it’s more historically accurate, and we need more children’s books that depict people of color.
- This is a great book for reviewing body parts with your child in Spanish and English.
- It includes scripture.
- Your little girl can identify with Eve as being fearfully and wonderfully made in His image.
- The author Kayla Alonso includes suggested activities at the back of the book similar to her Pray n’ Play packs.
I also appreciate how easily it reads as a bilingual book. I’m nit-picky about how translation can be organized across the pages of a book, and this author did a good job of keeping formatting the same so that your eyes easily find where the text is for the language you are following. My only slight disappointment is that the Spanish text is smaller than the English text on most pages. I feel that can send a message of that language not being as important, but it’s one way to format a bilingual book.
Overall, I encourage you to add this one to your Christian home’s bilingual library. Get it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/922500610/eva-a-bilingual-baby-devotion
